The jaguar makes an analogy to death, and the tranquility of the grandmother in the little hat means acceptance of the finiteness of life. It is important that from childhood people hear about death in a light and relaxed way, in order to facilitate the acceptance process. This story can be read to young children, as happens in the quilombola school where Gonçalina teaches.
